Allana Slater is the most successful women's artistic gymnast that Australia has ever produced. From a young age she produced remarkable results, challenging the perception within the sport that age is a barrier.
Allana has participated in both the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympic Games, and is a dual Commonwealth Games gold medallist. In 2003 she was part of the team who won a historic bronze medal at the 2003 World Championships in California - Australia's first medal in this sport at a World Championship.
Allana is a wonderful role model for the younger gymnasts, and a great ambassador for Australia and the sport of artistic gymnastics. She has proven that with determination and hard work you can achieve your goals.
Allana retired from gymnastics in August 2005 and has gone on to do some television work in Australia - providing commentary for Australian Cable Television for some Gymnastics events as well as doing some television presenting work during the Australian coverage of the 2005 World Gymnastics Championships. She was also a finalist in the Young Australian of the Year Award in the same year.
