darren percival and ciaran gribbin: beatles medley
Darren Percival became a household name in 2012, smashing industry expectations when he appeared on the first series of The Voice Australia. In the blind auditions viewers watching at home witnessed this 6’6” man with a mesmerising voice stand alone on a stage and turn around the chairs and hearts of four very different artists who each fought for him to be on their team. Over the next three months audiences old and young, of diverse tastes and backgrounds, voted for Percival. His soulful and original performances were a reflection of his mastery from entertaining audiences for over 20 years around the world.
An overnight success after two decades of hard work, Percival began by capturing the attention of four people; by the Grand Final he was cheered on by four million. His commitment to moving people is paramount as he continues to love his job and his beautiful life and focuses on enjoying the ride.
Ciaran Gribbin's journey began in the warzone of Northern Ireland in the 1970s, his childhood characterised by the tanks, guns, bombs and riots of The Troubles, and a love of music handed down through the generations. At nine years of age he wrote his first song and has dedicated his life to music ever since.
Gribbin has toured with Paul McCartney, The Script, Gotye, Powderfinger, James Morrison, Snow Patrol, Scissor Sisters and Franz Ferdinand. He has collaborated with Groove Armada, William Orbit and Paul Oakenfold, with whom he wrote Madonna’s Grammy-nominated hit single ‘Celebration’. In 2012, Gribbin became the most recent lead singer of Australian rock-icons INXS, touring extensively with the band throughout Europe, South America and Australia. The following year he penned ‘Hey Baby Doll’, which will be performed by Al Pacino in the upcoming 2015 feature film Danny Collins. His other film work includes writing, recording and co-producing the soundtracks for Killing Bono, Love and Suicide and Heartless.
Gribbin's solo career has seen him play to massive crowds at festivals, including Rock in Rio, as well as releasing popular EP My Killer My King in 2013 through Mushroom Music. In June 2014 Gribbin signed a music publishing deal with Snow Patrol's publishing company Polar Patrol Publishing.
