A self-styled campaigner, Bob Geldof is tremendously well informed on a broad range of global humanitarian and political issues. He is voted one of the best business and political speakers in the world today, delivering highly provocative presentations, inspiring and motivating audiences through his personal experiences and the lessons learned from Live Aid.
Born in Dublin in 1954, Geldof pursued a career in journalism before forming the rock group Boomtown Rats in 1975. After Boomtown Rats released a series of hits, Geldof emerged as one of the best known pop personalities of his era.
In 1984 Geldof turned his attention to the dreadful famine that was plaguing Ethiopia, organising the 1985 Live Aid benefit for starving African children. In recognition of his humanitarian efforts he was knighted in June 1986.
Geldof published his autobiography Is That It?, and recorded four solo albums between 1986 and 2001. In February 2005 he received a Brits Lifetime Achievement award for his outstanding contribution to music.
By 1992, he had established himself as a highly astute businessman. He was co-owner of the television production house Planet 24 and went on to found online travel agent Deckchair.com and Ten Alps Communications, a diverse media company whose successful productions included high profile documentaries for the BBC, contributions to Discovery Events That Changed Our World and over 600 trade magazines.
In 2005 Geldof completed a TV series for BBC1, Geldof in Africa, in which he travelled through Africa and explored the continent that the rest of the world seems to be leaving behind. He later produced a well-received book of the same name. In 2007, it was announced that Geldof was working with Ten Alps on an internet TV channel to promote world peace and other projects with the BBC. The Peace Channel was launched in Norway in September 2008.
In May 2015 Bob Geldof was made a Fellow of Mansfield College Oxford in recognition of his incredible humanitarian work and commitment to international development, as one of the world's earliest entrepreneurs. On receiving the award, Bob delivered the 13th Annual Manfeild College Hands Lecture to a sold-out audience. It was acknowledged by Guy Hands as 'the best and most stimulating lecture ever given in the series'.

Bob Geldof travels from United Kingdom
- Brilliant fit for the audience. Integrated all the briefing messages seemlessly whilst still maintaining "Sir Bob".
