Brett Ogle was born in Paddington, Sydney in 1964. He was adopted at 6 weeks of age and grew up in the country town of Goulburn.
He played all sports as a child; hockey, rugby, rugby league, table tennis and had success on the athletics field becoming a state champion. Brett discovered golf at the age of 12, and one year later his long time coach David Merriman arrived at his course to be the head pro. Brett took a mere 16 months to reduce his handicap from 32 to 1 and it was then he knew he had found a sport that could make him a living.
He turned pro at the age of 21 and won his first major tournament 3 years later. Since then he has enjoyed 13 worldwide victories, none better than his come from behind win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Tournament in 1993.
Brett returned to tournament golf at the Ford South Australian Open in November 1999, retiring in 2001. He is now involved with Channel 7 and Foxtel and is also a director of Southern Cross Sports Marketing and heavily involved with the corporate golf events of the company. He is much in-demand as a speaker and MC.
