David
Ellyard

Speaker Profile
David Ellyard has a clear and compelling understanding of how new ideas and innovative technology are transforming our present lives and our common future. This comes from a life deeply involved in science, technology and innovation; as a researcher (including a year in Antarctica), teacher, radio and TV broadcaster, successful author and Government policy adviser.
David helped build public understanding of science and technology through the pioneering programs 'Toward 2000' and 'Quantum' on ABCTV. Later he managed the NSW Innovation Council which advised the Government on growing smart businesses in a knowledge based economy.
A strong communicator in person and through the written word, David presents powerfully and provocatively on a diverse range of topics; why innovation is the key to success in business, how technology is shaping the way we will live and work tomorrow, what we all should understand about both the promise and the pitfalls of science.
His most recent book Who Discovered What When (New Holland Press) won the 2004 Eureka Awards Science Book Prize. Also now on the market is the 2006 edition of his StarWatch StarWheel which has been in print for nearly 20 years and sold 100 000 copies.

Coffs Habour City Council - Engaged with the group exceptionally well, and tied in with our international speaker fantastically.
ESRI Australia - Peter's presentation at our workshop was inspirational and challenging. He provided a climate to get high level participants' heads into a futures thinking mode and in a way that related strongly to the topic of the workshop and general sustainability principles.
