Dr Gabrielle Morrissey
Dr Gabrielle Morrissey has been a sex educator, sex therapist and relationship counsellor since 1990. In addition to her distinguished academic qualifications in sexuality, Dr Gabrielle has varied media experience in television, radio and magazines. She is the author of the successful sexuality book for teens and young adults, Sex in the Time of Generation X, and her second sex book, Urge was released in Australia in June 2002, and has been sold to the US, UK, Canada and Europe.
Just 32, Dr Gabrielle is in the rare position of being a media-sure ‘sexpert’ with graduate training and experience specifically in sex education and therapy. She received her Ph.D. in Sexology/Health Science from Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Western Australia, where she now works as a lecturer, and heads the Sexology program. She launched the world’s first Master of Forensic Sexology program at Curtin in July 2003, which is attracting international attention and respect.
Dr Gabrielle has a weekly sex and relationships column in The West Australian, “Dear Gabby” and hosts the new weekly call-in radio show on sex and relationships, “The Naked Truth” on 96fm. She is the regular sexologist for radio stations RTR FM Perth, and ABC Perth, as well as other stations around the country including the ABC, nova and Triple M. She is also a co-host of ‘The Chat Show’ with Liam Bartlett on the ABC Perth. Dr Gabrielle was the ‘sexpert’ for Channel 10’s Big Brother 2. Gabrielle travels internationally for her book, writes a monthly column for Zest magazine in London, and contributes to Cosmo in New York. She consults on sexuality websites such as SheSaid.com, and the CLEO website, travels Australia, the US and the UK delivering sexuality workshops and public speaking engagements, and until recently, ran a private sex therapy practice, specialising in women’s sexuality. Her dynamic style and outstanding knowledge base has earned her a stellar reputation internationally. Dr Gabrielle Morrissey is regarded as Australia’s ‘uber-sexpert’.
