Previous experience
Collingwood: Gary Pert is the former CEO of the Collingwood Football Club - the biggest football club in Australia. Over the last ten years, under Gary's leadership, the club financially doubled in size and played in three Grand Finals, including the winning the 2010 Premiership. He served as a Director of Collingwood in 2006 and 2007.
Management: Coming to the Holden Centre midway through 2007, Gary was previously Managing Director of Channel Nine Melbourne. He also enjoyed a 12-year career with Austereo Melbourne, culminating in four years as General Manager, and five years as the National Sales Director.
Awards: Gary had a distinguished 14-year AFL career between 1982 and 1995, during which he played 233 games. Gary played 163 games for the Fitzroy Lions and 70 games for the Mighty Magpies. He won the Fitzroy Best and Fairest Medal in 1989, was named All-Australian in 1985, and was named in the Fitzroy Team of the Century.

As opening speaker Gary certainly set the tone for our conference, the theme of which was 'Destination: Excellence'. In his brilliant presentation Gary totally engaged our delegates with his experiences with the Collingwood Football Club, but more so with Gary's individual management skills and philosophies. Our feedback from many of our delegates was 'best speaker ever'.
Gary was rated as our top speaker for the whole conference. He had messages that were very aligned to our culture and business and therefore the delegates really understood and received a lot out of it. He did go over time which we had to manage however we didn’t want to stop him either!
