Ian is the Deputy Chairman of Dunbar Bank, part of the Zurich Financial Services Group of which he is a Director. Apart from running what is an unconventional and highly profitable Bank Ian's work responsibilities also encompass the motivation of the Zurich Advice Network, a 4,000 strong self employed sales force. Before joining Zurich, Ian had a wide-ranging career at Barclays Bank including running their Small Business Unit and a number of other senior positions.
A funny and topical speaker, Ian provides a fresh look at the business work place. He believes strongly that running a major business or team does not need to dominate your entire life and illustrates how a better work life balance can produce better results. He demonstrates, through practical examples, how each of us can achieve a more effective balance and also offers suggestions for innovative ways of motivating both large and small teams. Ian has spoken at numerous corporate events both as a business, and after dinner, Speaker. Organisations he has addressed recently include Mysis, Trinity Mirror, Rank Leisure, Kuoni, Barclays Bank, The Life Insurance Association, The Institute of Chartered Accountants and The British Software Manufacturers Association.
Outside work his principal interests are comedy and cricket - (those that have seen him play believe that the two are closely related!). He is also Chairman of the Zurich Advice Network Foundation, the largest charity in the U.K. supported by self employed sales people which gives over £1m per annum to around 60 different projects.
