After ten years of working in television journalism, in 2002 Jillian Whiting joined Bruce Paige to co-present National Nine News weekdays.
A Queenslander through and through, Whiting was born in Mackay, where she spent her primary school years before her family moved to Brisbane.
After completing an Arts degree, double majoring in journalism, at the University of Queensland, Jillian took up a position in 1991 as assistant producer in Channel Seven's newsroom. From there she moved quickly through the ranks to full-time journalist and then onto weekend news presenting.
In December, 1996, Jillian joined Channel Nine's National Nine News team, reporting on the road and filling in as standby news presenter on weekends.
On Christmas Eve, 1997, Jillian was appointed permanent weekend news presenter before preparing for her move to weekdays in 2002.
After the birth of her first daughter, in November 2004, Jillian resumed her previous role as weekend news presenter in order to spend more time with her growing family.
As well as other projects, Jillian filled in as presenter of National Nine Morning News which is broadcast across Australia, and Qantas News seen by air travellers each day on domestic and international flights.
No longer with Channel 9, Jillian is now working on Channel 7’s highly regarded travel show, Queensland weekender as well as being a regular face on Queensland Television, working freelance. She also participates in community events and project launches and is a regular columnist for Brisbane’s Courier Mail.
Jillian is a very experienced and polished MC and host.
