Profile

Karen Tan has over 20 years of banking and finance experience. Her career spanned from sales and trading in treasury products to training and development. Since 1996, she has been helping people in organizations increase their personal effectiveness and interpersonal skills.

Current work

Prior to her current appointment as the Director, ETD, UBS Futures, she held the position of Corporate Director, Global Head of Sales Development for ABN AMRO Futures, Regional Training Director, Reuters Asia Pacific, a position that saw her developing technical and professional skills programs aligned with the requirements of the business lines in Asia Pacific.

Her in depth knowledge of banking and finance coupled with her in-depth knowledge of people developmental skills, have made her a popular and highly in demand coach-cum-trainer in the region.

To date, Karen has trained more than 5,000 executives all over the globe: Chicago, Amsterdam, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Pakistan, India, Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam.

An expert in the design, development and implementation of training and development support systems, Karen is well recognized for the results arising from the benefits of her coaching and training sessions. This is due to her dynamic personality backed by her professionalism when consulting with her clients.

She is a certified coach, graduating from Coach U Inc in United States in Personal Coaching and Corporate Coaching and is listed with the International Coach Federation. She has also developed and delivered several coaching programs for senior managers from MNCs and Financial Institutions.

Karen, volunteers as a council board member for Club Rainbow Singapore since 1999. Club Rainbow is a non profit charity organization for children suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses. She is also sits on the committee board for UBS Community Affairs.

Previous experience

Awards: Karen won the Women of Our Times Award 2006, Finance & Commerce category, organised by The Women’s Weekly to recognized women’s achievements. She also won the most voted by readers award of $5,000, to give to a charity of her choice.
