Co-founder of unique juggling products company Balls for your Mind, coach, trainer and six ball juggler, Michael J. Stone was first introduced to excellence while competing for Australia in speed roller skating throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. As an Adelaide Institute of Sports scholarship holder Michael proved himself in the international arena winning the London mile, Tour of Italy and became the first male Australian speedskater to win a World Championship Medal. Michael went on to coach Australia to medal winning performances at the 1991 World Championships.
Skating and coaching has taught Michael many things, yet most of all that we can always become more, better, greater, when we make a commitment to continuous life long learning.
During the mid 1990s Michael travelled to London where he noticed that businesses were using juggling as a metaphor to increase employees understanding of business and life principles in a cooperative learning environment, in the spirit of play. Juggling offers something unique, learning anything involves keeping a number of things 'up in the air' at the same time, and 'dropping the balls' provides an ideal metaphor for gracefully coping with mistakes, learning from them and intergrating your results. Juggling helps you learn to learn you can learn new things that you thought you couldn't.
Now residing in Victoria, Michael's days as an elite athlete and coach seem far away from his current incarnation as a business director, coach and trainer. In early 2001 Michael set up his current business, Balls for your Mind, with his wife Fiona, that manufactures, wholesales and retails juggling and circus equipment within Australia.
Whether you are after an effective ice breaker or desire to incorporate the juggling metaphor into your current teambuilding activities, programs can be tailored to your specific needs. Having awakened literally thousands of people to juggling's unique light-hearted learning concepts and being a six ball juggler himself, Michael believes he is one of the best there is in helping others discover the art of juggling as a metaphor for change, business and life success.
Outside work Michael is committed to a work life balance, his interests are family, health, spirituality, fitness, nature, music, reading widely, youth mental health and the future.
