The doyenne of Australian magazine publishing, Nene King built her reputation with Women's Weekly and Woman's Day, building them into the strongest monthly and weekly women's magazines in Australia. The first woman to sit on Kerry Packer's Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd board, Nene has been named as one of Australia's 10 most powerful women and in December 1999 was listed by MediaWeek as one of the 10 leading media people of the decade.
She is the subject of a biography by Peter FitzSimons, has published an autobiography, been a columnist for New Idea of recent years, and in June 2013 was portrayed by Mandy McElhinney in the ABC TV mini-series Paper Giants: Magazine Wars.
