The charismatic Shura Taft has fast become one of Australia's hottest and most in-demand television personalities of the past couple of years. Known for his way around the microphone, Shura is a true professional and a talented presenter. As a host in the studio, on location or presenting live, Shura leads by example offering witty humour and delivers intelligent conversation to his audience.
Shura is currently host of Fox Footy's The Supercoach Show, an interactive weekly live footy show for fans of News Limited's SuperCoach. Shura hosts alongside comedian Paul Calleja, Herald Sun SuperCoach experts Jay Clark and Sam Edmund with a panel of rotating AFL players who discuss their selections each week. Shura leads the panel of experts, giving the inside word on what players are delivering the goods, who is struggling, who to buy and who to sell and trade.
Shura has also been been host to Cricket Australia's online Big Bash League's Cricket TV show. Shura again demonstrated the depth of his sporting knowledge, hosting the show weekly with a News Ltd journalist, interviewing cricket players and reviewing the previous rounds games and discussing upcoming games.
Becoming the face of Expedia in 2011 has given Shura exciting opportunities to travel the world. He has featured in their national television, print and billboard advertisement campaign 'New York on $50' and this year has so far fronted the hugely successful Expedia campaigns in Thailand, the South Pacific and Las Vegas.
Adored by kids and parents alike, Shura hosts his own game show Pyramid, airing weekdays on Channel Nine. Running since 2008, it's now in its fifth year and currently shooting its seventh series.
Shura co-hosted the hottest new television chat show Uplate!, alongside Natalie Garonzi and James Kerley, which premiered its first season in July last year on Channel Nine's GO! Shot live in front of a studio audience at underground bar Mink in St Kilda, Uplate! kept viewers in the know with the hottest gigs, entertainment news, and live music from Australia and abroad. Each week friends Shura, James and Natalie hosted celebrities and joined partygoers to provide an exclusive backstage pass to what we are 'wearing, watching, and listening to'.
In 2011, Shura also hosted Eclipse Music TV, a weekly show on Channel Nine and on GO!, presenting the latest in music videos, artist interviews and album reviews with co-host Zoe Balbi.
Shura was also the original co-host of Nine's children's variety and cartoon show Kids' WB every Saturday morning, a role he contributed to for five years since 2006 and where he discovered that television hosting is his passion.
After a stellar job in 2011, Shura has been chosen again as this year's host of the 2012 Rock Eisteddford Challenge, the two national grand final episodes featuring on the Nine Network in November this year.
Alongside presenters Darren McMullen and Sami Lukis, Shura has hosted red carpet movie premieres for Event TV, interviewing and chatting with some of the world's most notable personalities and actors for the major international film releases in Australia.
As well as presenting his own weekend radio show on Nova over past years, Shura has also showcased his captivating and lively television presenting skills on an array of Nine's top rating shows giving comment on 20 to 1 in 2008/09, presenting segments on Postcards in 2009, live weather crosses on The Today Show and presented live segments on Mornings with Kerri Anne both in 2009/10. He even won $50,000 for his chosen charity by giving Australian viewers a very gutsy singing performance on Nine's Celebrity Singing Bee.
Sport is one of Shura's passions particularly his love for the Hawthorn Football Club, where he has established himself as the club's host of the family club and Club MC for all home match day events at the MCG, as well as host of their sponsor nights.
During his career in the entertainment business, Shura has done his fair share of travelling. In 2006 he co-presented a travel documentary and worked for 3 weeks in India, filming the first of a 10-part travel series with Jennifer Adams for Network Ten. His role included on-screen presenting, camera work and off-screen production.
Shura over the years has also immersed himself in many charities, one of which is TLC for Kids, where he hosted their popular annual ball at the Crown Palladium in 2009/10. He has hosted the Leukaemia Foundation 2010 cocktail evening alongside Charli Delaney and this year's Street Change event searching for Melbourne's Best Busker for the Rotary Club of Melbourne, as well as the Zoe Foundation annual charity night. Shura is also an Ambassador for the VAFA's 1 in 5 Anti-Depression Program.
Shura has been involved in countless MC events including GPO Girl's Night out at Moonee Valley, the Fashions on the Field at Caulfield Cup and Caulfield Guineas in 2008 with Livinia Nixon in 2010 with Kids' WB co-host Heidi. He has also hosted Forever New's Spring Winter Fashion Launch 2009 and the Warner Bros Australian Christmas party 2007, 2008 and in 2010 hosted the City of Melbourne's Santa's Grand arrival.
Bringing a unique energy and bubbly enthusiasm to all his performances, Shura is an exciting presenter loved by audiences of all ages.
