Katich

Accomplished Australian Test Cricketer.

Profile

Simon Katich is one of Australia’s top current international cricketers, known for his ability and tenaciousness as an opening batsman.

Current work

Now one of the more experienced players and a leader on the Australian cricket team, Katich is helping build a side that will once again be considered the very best in the world.

A polished speaker and occasional media personality, Simon Katich illustrates the parallels between business and sport at the highest level, accompanied by many personal experiences and anecdotes.

Previous experience

Test: Initially playing for his home state of Western Australia he switched to NSW and made his Test debut on the 2001 Ashes Tour of England.

His best Test batting performance came against India in Sydney in 2004 when his 125 and unbeaten 77 saved Australia and a decade long unbeaten record at home.

Ashes: 2005 saw him on the Ashes Tour of England again and although not a great experience for Australia he was considered to be a force to be reckoned with.

Record: The 2007-2008 domestic season was a triumph as he smashed 1506 runs to break Michael Bevans all time Pura Cup/Sheffield Shield record runs in a season as NSW romped home undefeated to claim their 45th title.

Wins: Katich was selected for the 2009 Ashes Tour and played in all 5 Ashes Tests, scoring 341 runs in 8 innings at an average of 42.62. Notably, in the fifth test, his fighting spirit at all times was evident as he took 6 catches in the field and effected 2 direct hit runs out - quite outstanding really.
