Murray Thom
Named as one of New Zealand's Top 10 Entrepreneurs of the Decade by NZ Business magazine.
Entrepreneur, sailor, and motivational business presenter Murray Thom is all about "giving it a go" and speaks about "giving a performance worthy of a standing ovation", a vital message in the current market. The presentation focuses on what he has learned from musicians at the very top of their game and includes powerful footage from Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, and Celine Dion's Show A New Day in Las Vegas.
Murray is inspired by the fact that these leading artists every day of their lives have to deliver the performance of their life. Professional entertainers don't have the luxury of a bad day, or a bad mood or a day off - Murray compares this with our own daily performance. How many days in the year could we rate our performance as worthy of a standing ovation?
Regardless of what business or industry we are in, the message we convey doesn't change too much. Our customers have generally not heard our presentation before and neither are they aware that yesterday we delivered it with great energy, confidence and enthusiasm. Murray inspires audiences how to live each day "giving a performance worthy of a standing ovation"... after all you don’t want to lip synch your way through life.

This month's quotes are taken from a number of addresses by the 44th President of the United States of America, the former Senator from Illinois who was recently inaugurated to become the first African-American president, Barack Obama.
"When we have faced down impossible odds; when we've been told that we're not ready, or that we shouldn't try, or that we can't, generations of Americans have responded with a simple creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, we can."
"That is the true genius of America - a faith in simple dreams, an insistence on small miracles."
"We will need to remind ourselves, despite all our differences, just how much we share: common hopes, common dreams, a bond that will not break."
"I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to. It belongs to you. It belongs to you."
