Previous Experience:
Beginning: In 1991, aged 21, Cherie bought her very first property, a house on a 6-lane highway, riddled with noise issues which Cherie never realised until she moved in. Knowing she didn’t want to stay on in the property, she spruced it up with only $2,000, hoping not to lose any money so soon after its purchase. As luck would have it, she sold the property, making an accidental profit that sparked her interest in property. She bought another unrenovated house straight after & as they say, the rest is history. 30 years later, Cherie has now renovated over 140 properties, personally transacted $75 million+ in property purchases & currently holds a sizeable property portfolio of her own.
Experience: In 2004, Cherie became Foxtel’s Lifestyle Home Channel renovation & development expert. It gave her the opportunity to interact with the public & further cement her reputation as an all-round property expert. In 2009, after constant requests from people asking how she bought properties & flipped them for a profit, Cherie launched her company, Renovating For Profit. She was immediately signed to a promoter on the Australian professional public speaking circuit with Cherie quickly becoming an in-demand speaker. Renovating For Profit instantly took off, filling an insatiable need for property education that no one was doing at the time. Cherie personally developed a renovation system that students could easily replicate on their own projects to minimise risk & maximise profits. She developed world first renovation step by step guides that systemically teach the art & science of renovating for profit. She’s developed a cult-like following amongst her student community with her flagship course “Cosmetic Renovations For Profit” still remaining Australia’s most popular renovation course to this day. Renovating For Profit currently holds one of Australia’s most targeted databases of people genuinely interested in property.
Media: In 2011, Cherie joined the cast of Channel 10’s lifestyle show “The Living Room” as their Renovating For Profit expert. She renovated whole houses & apartments in 10 days or less with a specific focus on adding value to a property. Her skills were constantly put to the test under the scrutiny of nationwide audiences with Cherie becoming a crowd favourite & one of the shows top rating experts over 8 consecutive seasons. In 2015, Cherie found overseas success as a result of her Australian renovating efforts. Internationally headhunted, Cherie was asked to film a pilot episode in Minnesota, USA. Soon after in a foreign country, she transformed a whole house, internally & externally in just 5 days with a small team of tradespeople behind her. The property sold a few days later for a tidy profit with Cherie being signed as the host of her TV show “5 Day Flip” on America’s HGTV network. The show aired in over 40 countries globally. In 2020, Cherie landed the role of co-host on Channel 9’s new show “Space Invaders”. Along with decluttering guru, Peter Walsh & treasure hunter, Lucas Callaghan, the trio help transform the homes & lives of people crippled by clutter. In this role, Cherie transforms rooms or partial areas of a home in just 2 days on affordable budgets that the public can relate to. She is due to start Season 2 filming in August 2021. In addition to Cherie’s TV roles, she’s a prolific media contributor & has been interviewed for thousands of print & web media articles over her 30-year renovation career. This combined with her extensive media presence, make her Australia’s leading media authority on renovating for profit. She is considered by many to be renovation royalty, both in Australia & internationally.
Achievements: During 2015 - 2018, in addition to her significant renovation achievements, Cherie was a finalist twice in the Telstra Businesswoman of the Year Awards in the Business Innovation & Business Owner categories. Cherie was also named as one of the Australian Financial Review, Top 100 Women of Influence in Australia. She also further expanded her suite of online property courses, personally developing “Airbnb For Profit”, “Small Developments For Profit” & “Create Your Perfect Kitchen”.
