Bill Lawry is acclaimed as one of Australia's most successful opening batsman. Nicknamed "The Phantom", Bill topped the aggregates and averages on his maiden tour with 420 runs at 52.50, and he later went on to play in 29 Ashes battles for 2233 runs.
After a short time as Australian Captain his career ended after 67 Tests and 5234 runs, highlighted by hooks, pulls and drives, and boasting an average of 47.15. Added to this was his brilliance as a fieldsman.
Bill is in the record books for many of his achievements, however consistency was always his trump, and in his 29 tests against England he amassed 1226 runs at 51.08 in Australia and 1007 at 45.78 in England.
Apart from his fame as a player, Bill is now a well known media personality and a cricket commentator for GTV 9 and entertaining speaker.
