Millar

Startup sensation.

I have a passion for telling stories that haven’t been told before. This is what Unfiltered is about.
Profile

Jake Millar is the 23-year-old Co-Founder and CEO of Unfiltered, the Founder of the Jake Millar Foundation and a Global Advisory Board Member at DocuSign.

Background
After graduating from Christchurch Boys' High School where he was Head Boy, Jake turned down a $40,000 law scholarship and decided to launch his own startup straight out of high school after being inspired by Richard Branson's autobiography, "Losing My Virginity."

Current work:
Entrepreneur
He started his first company OOMPHER at the age of 18 to inspire the next generation of future leaders. Within six months the business was acquired by the New Zealand Government. Jake then weighed up several options before deciding to launch business learning platform Unfiltered in November 2015.

Unfiltered exists to drive fast business learning and democratize the knowledge and wisdom of the world’s most successful leaders. Unfiltered's dream is to inspire business brilliance and be admired as the best business learning platform in the world.

Unfiltered has raised $2.2 million in capital to expand operations into the United States from global investors including Kevin Roberts, The Huljich Family, Sir Eion Edgar, Tim Norton, Jonty Kelt and Adrian Burr.

Jake has interviewed over 350 of the world's most successful leaders including Sir Richard Branson, Four Star General Stanley McChrystal (former Commander U.S. Forces - Afghanistan), Rick Caruso (Founder & CEO, Caruso Affiliated), Ian Wright (Co-Founder, Tesla), Miguel McKelvey (Co-Founder, WeWork), Tina Sharkey (Co-Founder, Brandless) and Don Valentine (Founder, Sequoia Capital).

Philanthropist
In addition to his business commitments, Jake is also a passionate philanthropist. In 2018 he served as an Ambassador for Lifeline, and raised $245,500 to fight youth suicide in New Zealand. Jake is also the founder of the Jake Millar Scholarships at Greymouth High School and Grey Main School which he launched to inspire and encourage creativity and entrepreneurship in future generations.

Jake is an Ambassador for BMW (he claims he was a Formula 1 driver in a past life). He is a a born adrenaline junkie and spends his spare time skydiving, bungy jumping, skiing, learning to fly and pushing his limits at the Burning Man festival in Nevada.

Recognition
In April 2018, Jake was appointed to the DocuSign Advisory Board. In November 2018 Jake was named in Forbes Magazine’s ‘30 Under 30’ North America & Canada.
