James Bracey has quickly risen through the ranks to become one of the Nine Network’s most versatile and leading sports presenters.

Since joining the team at Nine in 2016, James is now the main anchor for some of the network’s highest-rating sports coverage - including for the NRL, State of Origin and Grand Final, along with The Presidents Cup and the Australian Open. He is also the anchor for the popular Sports Sunday program and more recently was appointed as the leading sports anchor for Nine News.

Following his graduation from the University of Newcastle in 2005, with a Bachelor of Communication (Journalism), James joined Sky News as a sports reporter and presenter.

During his thirteen-year stint at Sky News, James hosted the very popular SportsNight evening show and covered three Summer Olympic Games (Beijing, London & Rio de Janeiro), two Winter Olympic Games (Vancouver & Sochi), the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, as well as the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

Beyond television presenting, James is an experienced and in-demand event MC.

Originally from the Central Coast, James now resides on Sydney’s Northern Beaches with his wife Margot and their baby daughter, Matilda.

On 15 September 2010, Sydney celebrated the 10th Anniversary of 'Best Games Ever'. The celebration of the milestone of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games generated media interest that exceeded ex ... keep readingpectations of the Australian Olympic Committee and its partners in the event, the Australian Paralympic Committee, Sydney Olympic Park Authority and the NSW Government. James Bracey and the team working with him from Sky News were an integral part of the broadcast of the event, providing live coverage throughout the whole day. Beginning at 6am, James brought bright enthusiasm to the celebration breakfast which kick-started the day, interviewing an array of athletes both from Sydney 2000 and those looking to qualify for London 2012. The day's action then took place out at Sydney Olympic Park and James worked tirelessly throughout the day interviewing key athletes from Sydney 2000 such as Cathy Freeman, Andrew Gaze and Ian Thorpe who were there to help celebrate the anniversary. James' in-depth knowledge of the athletes and his ability to make them feel comfortable in their interviews was paramount to the success, not only of Sky's coverage, but of the day as a whole. With the athletes having a number of commitments throughout the day it was important to keep the interviews running smoothly but also to be able to adapt to last minute changes, both of which James and his team did effortlessly. During the afternoon, James joined with Susie O'Neill to host the Volunteers' Reunion at the RAS Arena. His interaction with this colourful group of people was an asset to the organisers of the event. He was both informative and entertaining and helped make the day of the 5,000 volunteers who had gathered to reminisce about the Games. On behalf of the Australian Commonwealth Games Association (ACGA) I am pleased to provide this letter in support of the assistance that James Bracey provided during the promotion of the 2010 Commonwealth Games Queens Baton Relay welcome in Sydney. James was the master of ceremonies for the official welcome event held at the Sydney Opera House on 19 April 2010. He did an excellent job in this role in introducing all of the invited guests and the official dignitaries including those from the Government of India, and the State of New South Wales. In particular I am pleased to congratulate him on his style as an MC, and his interaction with the public. He also showed his in-depth knowledge of all the sporting persons whom he interviewed including Kieran Perkins, Matt Shirvington and Catherine Cox. In closing I would like to mention that all those in attendance were impressed with James as MC, and in particular his genuine enthusiasm and professionalism.

We have always trusted and relied on James Bracey here at FOXTEL to be able to deliver and rise to the occasion as MC for our numerous and various events. Although we have a great stable of celebrities, it takes a special person to be able to stand up at our functions and deliver to a crowd, yet we have found that James is one of those people that does it with such ease. In particular we enlisted the services of James who we felt was the perfect fit to MC a WWE Australian tour at the Acer Arena in 2010. James always presents himself with utmost professionalism and versatility and engages the crowd. His knowledge of all sports is such an asset. This MC job for James was particularly fast paced having to announce and inform the crowd of each WWE Superstar who appeared at a meet and greet function prior to them performing in front of the crowd. James was only provided with all WWE background information two hours prior to the event. The client is very protective of their international brand and always requires the right message to get across to the audience. James not only delivered what was asked of him but presented all the information and worked in with a very mixed crowd from ages three to 93, all passionate fans of the sport of WWE and all who warmed to James and his enthusiasm.
