Best-selling Author, Gifted MC & Interviewer

There is not a single person I can’t learn from.

James Knight grew up in Gunnedah, in country New South Wales.

During his childhood he swept the stables and cleaned out the dog cages at his father's veterinary practice, but his first 'real job' was as a cadet radio journalist in Dubbo, NSW.

James eventually moved to Sydney where he worked in radio before joining Channel Ten TV as a news/sports reporter who 'fell on his feet' covering numerous Australian cricket tours during the 1990's.

After that, he reported for both Channels Seven and Nine, and he continues to work on freelance television projects.

In 2001, he wrote his first book, about cricketers Brett and Shane Lee. He has since written 12 other non-fiction books, spanning history, travel, and social justice topics, including biographies about refugees.

In 2020, he was long-listed for the prestigious Indie awards, for 'Back On Track', a story about the award-winning rural youth-works program BackTrack and its founder, Bernie Shakeshaft. (2020 Australain Local Hero of the Year).
Current Work:

James has a Master of Education, specialising in Contemporary Literacies, and nowadays devotes significant time working with school-aged children to help them improve their literacy and storytelling skills and to give them the confidence to express themselves.

In 2019 he launched a collaborative project, 'The Global Story Project' with an educator in India to publish a book of writings by secondary school-age children. The boutique book was released in late 2021 and included contributions from 11 countries spread across Asia, Oceania, Europe, North America, South America and Africa. James hopes to grow this project to help give young people across the world the chance to express themselves.

James has gained a reputation as an empathetic storyteller and interviewer who cherishes the beauty of simple pleasures. He is also a dad, husband, marathon runner, and has been hit for one of the longest sixes in history.
