Profile

THE CRICKET MUMMA: Girls in Cricket Advocate, Photography Blogger, Published Author, Social Media Influencer and Sports Mentor.

When it comes to supporting young girls in cricket, Rachel Devine is an all-rounder. An advocate on and off the cricket field, Rachel is well-known by her social media name ‘The Unlikely Cricket Mum’. A mother of twins, Rachel is an American ex-pat but speaks cricket fluently (albeit with an American accent). Now a certified Aussie, Rachel is a cricket mum for all - supporting young girls to play elite cricket.

When Rachel’s daughter first started playing cricket, Rachel saw a massive, ‘bigger than the MCG’ gap between girls and boys playing professional cricket. Tackling the issue head on, Rachel educated herself about everything cricket - from ‘breaking one’s duck’ to ‘good innings’, Rachel applied her cricket knowledge to become an influencer for girls playing cricket beyond the school yard, including working alongside Bupa and Cricket Australia to support girls in elite cricket.

Rachel is also a photography blogger - her first published book ‘Beyond Snapshots’ is an instructional guide to photography for the amateur shutterbug.

Rachel has proudly been blogging at Sesame Ellis for 14 years.

Publications: As a photographer and visual storyteller, Rachel has been featured in many publications including American Photographer and even graced the cover of Click magazine (USA).

Photography: Rachel first opened her photography business in Los Angeles in 1995, photographing child models’ commercial photography campaigns. She was an eminent music photographer and her early work included some of Miley Cyrus’ first ever head shots.

As an original blogger and from sharing her family photos online from 2004, Rachel was offered the first of her book deals “Beyond Snapshots: How To Take That Fancy DSLR Camera of Auto”; and “Photograph Your Life Like a Pro” for Random House.

Partnerships: Rachel’s long relationship with Bupa and Cricket Australia includes the extremely successful eBook: Guide to Cricket for Parents. Other partnerships include: Olympus, Dubai Tourism, Mercedes Benz, Samsung, Hot Wheels, Lego, Big W and many more.
