Profile

John Ball has more than 30 years’ experience in information technology and online digital marketing. During this time, he has lived and worked in China, Singapore, USA & Australia and held global sales leadership roles.

John is passionate about creating winning team cultures and establishing environments to allow all to grow, develop and have FUN.

Outside of work John is passionate about adventure travel and has summited many of the largest mountains in North America, completed the Kokoda trek, endured 600 KM cycle through the Simpson desert and climbed several peaks in Peru. His adventure travel has taught him how to be a better leader and team member.

John is also a cancer survivor and a survivor of a brain tumor both found in 2016 prior to an adventure in Mexico to climb 3 volcanos.

Current work

John, the Google country manager for the marketing solution business. In this role he is responsible for Googles advertising business across 2 million customers in Australia and New Zealand. Under his leadership the business has more than doubled and he has built an organisation capable of doubling it again. John has the added responsibility of looking after agency business for the Asia Region to ensure consistent strategy execution.

Previous experience

Employment: Prior to Google John spent 18 years at Microsoft in senior sales leadership roles across the globe, which helped develop his approach to building winning teams.

Education: John holds a Bachelors of Computer Science and an MBA from University of Technology Sydney. He is currently serving as a board member for Cure Cancer (appointed Oct 2016).
