Steve Bedwell’s credits include television host, radio personality, producer, ARIA nominated recording artist, author and he’s also a very funny comedian.
He played one half of the highly successful Melbourne Triple M breakfast duo, Timbo & Bedders (formerly The Squirrel Grippers) who owned breakfast radio from 1998 through 2001and were nominated and finalists for several RAWARDs including Best On-Air Team. In 2002 Steve started to sleep in and hosted his own morning show on Triple M.
He has hosted many successful programs branded with his name; Steve Bedwell and the Crew on SA-FM breakfast, The Steve Bedwell Experience and The Steve Bedwell Sunday Brunch on Melbourne’s Fox FM. He was also a writer performer for Triple J and 2-Day FM breakfast programs and has enjoyed regular guest roles on programs including Martin Molloy Drive syndicated nationally through Austereo.
Steve has also been building a career in talk-back at 3AW, as a regular panellist on the Sunday Morning program and fill in shifts for Ernie Sigley, Keith McGowan, Dennis Walter and Mike Brady.
Television has always played a huge part in Steve’s career. As a writer/performer Steve was Head Writer and part of the on screen “family” for the Artist Services produced Seven Network program Tonight Live With Steve Vizard. Steve then advanced as a writer for the sketch comedy program, Full Frontal for two years of series production.
Other television credits include; host/performer on the ABC stand up comedy series Something Hot Before Bed, writer/performer for Optus Vision advertising campaigns, writer for Foxtel’s soap comedy Shark Bay, Co-host with Glenn Robbins and Lavinia Nixon on a series of chat show/discussion shorts for the Comedy Channel and Producer for Artist Service’s Eric Bana Live for the Seven Network.
Steve has hosted his own Comedy Channel program, Bedders Time, a series of celebrity interviews and stand up comedy pieces. He also flew to LA & New York for the Comedy Channel to interview Jay Lenno, Conan O'Brien and Chris Rock, the first Australian to interview these superstar comedians face to face.
Steve acted as creative consultant and guest presenter for the Nine Network’s Russell Gilbert Live and has also Produced the Nine Network's Footy Show. He continues to work on program development across the networks.
Apart from his radio and television career, Steve is also a hilarious stand up comedian. He has performed in major comedy venues across Australia and overseas including feature shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. As a writer Steve has contributed to the Herald Sun, Sydney Morning Herald and the Adelaide Advertiser. In 1992 Steve wrote a sell out humorous Australian social history book titled Suburban Icons: A Celebration Of The Everyday published by ABC books.
