Hannah
Gadsby

Award-Winning Comedian

They/Them

Profile

Hannah Gadsby has been a comedian for almost twenty years, but it was in 2018 that the world took notice when their groundbreaking comedy special launched on Netflix and stopped the comedy world in its tracks.

Nanette earned Hannah an Emmy, a Peabody, an Australian Academy Award, and the Most Outstanding Show awards at both the Melbourne Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe. Since then, Hannah did three more solo stand-up comedy shows which toured the world – selling out houses across the USA, Australia and Europe, including the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Festival Hall, the Kennedy Centre, the London Palladium and the Opera House at BAM. Their most recent tour, Woof!, saw Hannah make special returns to both off-Broadway and the Edinburgh Fringe.

Hannah’s second Netflix special, Douglas launched in 2020, and their third, Something Special landed on May 2023. Douglas was nominated for an Emmy and won an Australian Academy Award as did Something Special. Hannah’s fourth special with Netflix launched in 2024, recorded at London’s beloved “Ally Pally”, the Gender Agenda bought together gender queer comedians from around the world.

In between the constant touring Hannah has also managed to release a New York Times Best Selling memoir in more than ten languages, chat with the likes of Colbert and Fallon, curate an exhibition with Brooklyn Museum, host a gala at the Montreal Just For Laughs comedy festival and take a guest turn on Sex Education.

Since winning the Melbourne Comedy Festival’s Raw Comedy competition in 2006 Hannah has been prolific, creating more than twenty solo shows and art lectures that have taken them from tiny rooms in comedy festivals to some of the grandest theatres on the planet, carving a path that is uniquely their own.
