Trans & Gender Diversity Consultant & Advocate

Katherine Wolfgramme is an award-winning Trans Advocate and Gender Diversity Consultant. She is the official Ambassador of The Gender Centre contributing writer and journalist for Star Observer and former board member of Wear It Purple, Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras and Producer of Transgender Day of Remembrance in Sydney.

Current Work:

Katherine was born with gender dysphoria, and in 1990 at the age of 18, started her transition. While the start to her journey is not unique - what is remarkable is that after three decades, she wishes to share her knowledge and experience to help reduce misunderstanding towards her community.

Katherine’s vision is to help create a language of understanding so that cultural safety exists for transgender people in the broader community.
Katherine does not consider herself an activist or feminist. She prefers the term advocate because she will initiate change if required, and she believes in respect, equality and social justice for all genders.

- Transgender Youth
- The Evolution of Society Towards Transgender People

Trans Awareness Training

Duration: 90 Minutes

In-depth training about creating cultural safety and the importance of culture for transgender people.
Katherine is one of Australia’s foremost speakers on transgender lives and rights, with extensive knowledge of the lives experiences of transgender people. At a time when LGBTQI issues are in the spotlight and there’s new awareness of gender diversity, Katherine can be a wonderful, warm, knowledgeable and welcoming guide to any organisation willing to learn more about transgender people. She’s a great addition to any panel or project about diversity. We were very proud and happy to work with her during Mardi Gras 2017 and 2018. I don’t hesitate to recommend Katherine and I am happy to be contacted for any further information. Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras

We would absolutely recommend Katherine and look forward to working with her again in the future.

Thanks so much for sharing your story, Katherine and for persevering with making change for the younger generations. The rainbow community is lucky to have such an amazing woman to look up to.

Katherine was our keynote speaker for our online Wear it Purple Day event in 2021. She is a remarkable speaker, who told her story with a mix of humour, passion and sadness. It was a privilege to hear her journey, from the realisation of 'not being a girl' at four years old, to her proud transgender advocacy today. She is an incredibly real and inspiring woman. Katherine - Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
