Lord Ian Botham is one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of cricket, having represented England in both Test and One-Day International formats. He played first-class cricket for Somerset, Worcestershire, Durham and Queensland.
Ian has fundraised for over 40 years, completing 18 long-distance charity walks and raising more than £20 million for a range of causes. He established Beefy’s Charity Foundation in 2013, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. In recognition of his philanthropic efforts, Ian was named the first-ever President of Blood Cancer UK in 2003.
Knighted in 2007 for his contribution to both cricket and charity, Ian was later nominated for a life peerage in 2020, becoming Baron Botham of Ravensworth in the County of North Yorkshire. In August 2021, he was appointed Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Australia.
A joint owner of Botham Wines, Ian continues to source and blend wines from across the globe. He served as Chairman of Durham County Cricket Club from 2017 to 2024 and is now President of Durham CCC.
