International Sleep Expert, Scientist, Author, Clinical Psychologist

Sleep isn't a pillar of wellbeing - it's the tentpole holding everything else up.

Dr Michael Gradisar has immersed himself in everything ‘sleep’ since 1998 - it’s been his bread and butter.

As a former University Professor, he saw the need to speak to the masses so he could butter other people’s bread (aka, teach the world about the science of sleep). With over 140 published scientific studies, book chapters and a self-help book, he has become a leading international authority on many sleep topics - including technology use, mental health, the benefits of light, insomnia and circadian rhythms (to name a few). He has been an invited scientific speaker at Worldsleep2021, the International Pediatric Sleep Association, the Australian Association of Cognitive Behaviour Therapies, and the Pediatric Sleep Medicine Conference, and presented 150+ scientific studies at conferences globally.

He leads a clinical team who have been assessing and treating sleep problems across the lifespan (infants, children, teens, adults) since 2002. They have pioneered new therapies for sleep problems and subjected them to scientific scrutiny - ultimately leading to impactful media coverage, including interviews with The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, BBC, Forbes, Reuters, and Huffington Post. Over the years, Dr Gradisar has trained over 500 health professionals across the world via engaging workshops and 1-to-1 formal clinical training.

Dr Gradisar is the Head of Sleep Science at Sleep Cycle in Sweden - the world’s most popular sleep app, with over 60 million downloads. Via this dynamic company he has been spreading the true science of sleep through the app and seminars, including to companies like Samsung, Gympass and YuLife (to name a few). Current and past consultancies include the National Sleep Foundation, Tempur, Sleep Health Foundation, Nanit, Polar Watches, Headspace, the National Mental Health Commissioner, CSIRO, Swimming Australia, the Australian Psychological Society, Department of Education and Child Development, and the National Health and Medical Research Council.

Dr Gradisar is quickly becoming known as the mythbuster of sleep - the person who influences influencers - one to translate sleep science to millions across the world.
