Michael
Rowland

Co-Presenter, 'ABC News Breakfast'

Profile

Michael Rowland is one of Australia’s most seasoned and respected journalists. In his nearly 40-year career at the ABC, he specialised in covering politics, business and international affairs. During that time, Michael spent five years in the Canberra press gallery, and he was also on the scene, presenting big global stories, including the election of both Barack Obama and Donald Trump to the US presidency, and the death of the Queen in 2022.

He is best known for his 15-year stint as co-host of the popular ABC News Breakfast, which saw him interviewing everyone from Prime Ministers to Hollywood superstars.

Michael can bring to your event an engaging manner, dry wit and an unflappable calm born of presenting three and a half hours of live television every morning. He can switch effortlessly from being an MC to moderating panels on a range of issues. And, perhaps, telling the odd, awful Dad Joke to spice things up!

Expertise
Feedback
I commend Michael Rowland for his exceptional skills as a public speaker and event master of ceremonies. Michael is a senior member of the committee of the Melbourne Press Club and plays a key role in the management and presentation of the Club's busy events program. He has been MC at a series of big Club events in the past year including a dinner to inaugurate the Victorian Media Hall of Fame, attended by top media industry figures including Lachland Murdoch, Eddige Maguire, Kim Williams and Harold Mitchell. In March he was MC at our annual Quill Awards dinner at Crown Palladium, attended by 600 media leaders and celebrities. Michael's great skills as an ABC presenter are evident in the style he brings to hosting public events. He is eloquent, charming and funny. Melbourne Press Club

Michael was professional and struck the perfect balance between humour, warmth and respect to the finalists who were being recognised.
