Rooted in lived experience, Nick empowers audiences to take action around their wellbeing

Profile

Nick started his coaching business in 2018 after 22 years as a Managing Director and trader for several global investment banks including Citibank, Macquarie and Bank of America. The burnout he sustained was left unattended for years, leading to severe depression and ended his career in banking overnight.

This lived experience means that Nick brings a deeply empathetic and relatable presence, coupled with practical actions and strategies to help clients flourish in the professional corporate workspace. He has given over 1,400 coaching sessions, including with clients at Citibank, Morgan Stanley and Regal Funds Management.

His signature talk on professional wellbeing and burnout is designed to give individuals the tools needed to deal with burnout and wellbeing concerns in the workplace, to empower organisations to integrate better wellbeing into their culture, and to equip leaders with the tools and mindsets to support these changes.

Within a year of offering his talks, Nick has spoken in major settings such as 5V Capital, Citigroup, Macquarie Bank, Morgan Stanley, Royal Bank of Canada and the Australian Federal Parliament.

In media, Nick has been featured in the Australian Financial Review, Disrupt Radio and the Do Landers Podcast.

Feedback
We were delighted to have Nick join us at Macquarie Equities, his old stomping ground, to talk to our staff about his life experience and learnings. The discussion explored the challenge of managing wellbeing in market facing roles and went the extra step towards providing practical tips relating to finding balance in our personal and professional lives. Our team gained insight into conditions like burnout and anxiety, a concept that is front of mind for more people that we may realise. We also touched on the role each of us can play in supporting others. This session was ultimately one of the more impactful we have had here at Macquarie Equities. The feedback from our people has been overwhelmingly positive. Practical, honest, down to earth. Highly recommend. Macquarie Bank

Nick delivered an impassioned, important talk to our team. His session helps de-stigmatise the prevalent mental health challenges at work and home and provided great tips on dealing with and improving our own headspace. Detailing his own journey brought the presentation to life and makes the whole session incredibly relatable. We recommend Nick wholeheartedly as a way of educating and hopefully improving the lives of working professionals.

Airlie Funds Management

So enriching to have Nick call on our office recently to share his experiences, his observations and suggestions in the area of mental well-being. Delivered through the aperture of a financial markets practitioner who didn’t realise he had an issue until there was one, his narrative is instantly relatable, and his guidance left our group with plenty to think about. The journey to improved mental health in the workplace is an important one and made a little easier with Nick’s insights and engaging manner.

What really made Nick’s approach different was the practical application of strategies to better manage work-related stress making the discussion accessible for all the team irrespective of their starting point. I would certainly recommend Nick’s unique perspective on this topic as very relevant and informative whilst being delivered in a truly engaging way. The discussion was extremely well received, and we look forward to Nick’s next instalment at some stage.

Nick has been a trusted adviser to both me and my team over a period of several years. Nick provides wise and balanced advice, underpinned by his extensive corporate experience. It is such an asset to any team to have an external coach that has seen it all and knows how to communicate his advice in a meaningful way. Highly recommended.

Morgan Stanley

I have regained confidence in myself… the changes have been small, but their impact has been life-changing, and having someone hold me accountable has been the key in making these changes that had previously felt impossible.

Nick doesn’t tell me what to do. His approach is to empower me to find the answers to my most difficult questions. Quite simply, without his guidance I would have struggled to get where I am today. Nick takes genuine joy celebrating my successes and is there to help me when I am down and has often been the one to ask the question that makes me realise, I am tracking off course. He is always my first call when I am lost for progress.
