Profile

Professor Paul Harrison is the MBA program director and chair of Marketing and Consumer Behaviour at the Deakin Business School, co-director of Better Consumption Lab, and Adjunct Professor of Governance and Marketing at Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy.

He researches, consults and advises government, industry and NGOs predominantly in the field of consumer behaviour, communication (including social media), and marketing strategy. In his role as MBA Director, Paul has worked with leaders in the fields of medicine, finance, engineering, mining, government, non-profits, defence, telecommunications, retail, and many others on how to understand how to use the extensive evidence in the fields of consumer behaviour and marketing to their advantage.

Current work

In addition to his academic work at Deakin University, Paul is a board member, external advisor and in demand media expert on all things consumer behaviour and marketing. He is host of The Marketing Lab podcast, cohost of ABC Radio National’s consumer behaviour program, Talking Shop, and appeared on, and advised the ABC1 program, The Checkout, on consumer behaviour issues. He has a strong social media presence with more than 75,000 followers on TikTok. He leads an annual MBA study tour to Europe, introducing his MBA students to international business practice and challenging them with an intensive consulting project while on the tour.

He has advised or consulted to organisations such as Nestle, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Coles, Smeg, Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency, Alcon, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, Artemest, and eBay on issues related to marketing and consumer behaviour.
