Rong Jake is driven by all things design, fashion, & technology.
As a fashion designer, he has been nominated for both the International Woolmark Prize, one of the largest fashion design competitions in the world, & the National Designer of the Year Award. Hailing from an unconventional IT background, Rong Jake stumbled upon design & fashion through his humble experiences designing t-shirts for his friends & eventually for UNIQLO. Currently, he is focusing on his new project named, Graedance, which launched late 2022.
Rong Jake's creative work focuses on researching humanistic narratives, particularly narratives exploring subcultures, whilst revelling in the cyclical nature of society's cultural blueprint. An admirer of contemporary art & digital technologies, much of his work integrates & welcomes collaborations from new & emerging brands.
Rong Jake has lectured at numerous tertiary institutions in Australia, including the University of Melbourne & RMIT's School of Fashion. He has also spoken on behalf of Woolmark & Melbourne Fashion Week in various talks relating to fashion & business. In his spare time, he freelances on projects revolving the intersection of design & commercial development through his advisory agency, ‘Forward Collective.’
