Olympic, Commonwealth and Australian Cycling Champion Ryan Bayley is Australia's newest cycling sensation.

Olympics: One of the great success stories of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games was Ryan's blistering performance on the track to win two gold medals for Australia. The young Aussie cyclist clinched gold in the Sprint and Keirin events to become the first Western Australian Olympic gold medallist since 1968.
Awards: The 26 year old, who loves junk food and fast cars, now owns the title of the world's fastest man on a bicycle and was awarded the AIS Athlete of the Year and Australian Cyclist of the Year in 2004. He was also nominated for the 2004 Don Award and Australian Male Athlete of the Year.
Background: Ryan started competitive cycling in 1997 and debuted for Australia at the World Junior Track Championships in 2000. He has made 13 Australian teams since 2000 and was named the 2000 Male Junior Cyclist of the Year and the Australian Male Junior Track Cyclist of the Year. In 2001
Medals: Ryan claimed two gold, one silver and one bronze at the Oceania Titles, two gold and one silver at the Australian Titles, and one gold, one silver at the World Titles to become the 2001 Australian Track Cyclist of the Year.
At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester Ryan produced a scintillating performance to capture two gold medals in the Sprint and Team Sprint events. He claimed one silver at the 2002 World Titles and two silver medals at the 2002 World Cup. In 2003 Ryan won one gold and one silver at the 2003 Australian Titles and one silver and two bronze World Cup medals.
Future: The former junior BMX and motocross champion is known for his easy going and likeable personality. He is energetic, extremely passionate and has a good sense of humour. Ryan is determined to continue his meteoric rise in the sport of track cycling and looks forward to the 2005 World Titles, 2006 Commonwealth Games and 2008 Beijing Olympics.
