Alex Sloan AM is a communication specialist. She is an award winning journalist, panellist, MC and commentator whose extensive media career spans 30 years, including 27 years with ABC Radio.
Alex work includes interviews for National Library of Australia and ANU/Canberra Times Meet the Author series including recent interviews with Eric Idle, Minette Walters, Graeme Simsion, Jocelyn Moorhouse, Hugh Mackay and Shaun Micallef.
She has worked across Commonwealth Government departments as a communication and presentation specialist and is in high demand as a panellist and commentator on ABC Radio, ANU, University of Canberra, National Museum of Australia, National Library and community groups.
Alex is a board member of Australia’s progressive think-tank, The Australia Institute also The ACT Architects Board and The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust where she is Regional Director of the ACT Selection Committee. She is also a member of the ACT Selection Panel for The Australian of the Year Awards.
Awards and Accolades: In 2017 Alex was named ACT Citizen of the Year “In recognition for her services to the community of the ACT, through her commitment to telling stories of Canberrans over 22 years in local radio and through her selfless support of a range of community organisations and charitable events”
Alex was also made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2019 for her significant service to the community of Canberra, and to the broadcast media as a radio presenter.
