Andy Dexterity is a unique speaker and entertainer with a passion for making a difference.

He’s a Green Room Award-nominated performer specialising in a truly unique concept; a fusion of dance, theatre and sign language. Fascinated by the way people interact and communicate, he’s created works that empower and delight audiences through creative choreography. Andy has performed in award-winning shows for the Melbourne Theatre Company, Sydney Theatre Company, Opera Australia and Belvoir Street Theatre.

Passionate about making the world a more inclusive pace, his ‘signdancing’ is giving people new tools to express themselves, encouraging conversation that transcends linguistic barriers. His recent performance at TEDxSydney left audiences in awe of his unique ability to communicate through body language.

A gifted performer and presenter, Andy will unify your audience through a shared learning experience. In his light-hearted and humorous presentations, Andy will have guests singing, signing and collaborating in one unified group. He engages organisations to improve team using body language and the art of communication to celebrate empathy, diversity and congruence in any organisation.

Current work

One of the artistic directors of the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, Andy is also an ambassador for Deaf Australia, teaches Auslan (Australian Sign Language) at The University of Sydney and Macquarie University as well as teaching dance, movement, yoga and meditation across Australia.

Previous experience

Theatre: His original choreographed ‘signdance’ was performed for Grammy Award-winning pop singer Kimbra and he’s conducted the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for ‘The Wiggles Meet The Orchestra’. He was a special guest at the 2014 Outgames Opening Ceremony, performed with Tina Arena and opened the 2015 Australian Dance Awards at The Sydney Opera House.

Andy’s theatre background presented the opportunity for him to choreograph the Australian revival of ‘RENT - the musical’ and ‘You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown’, both for The Hayes Theatre Company.
