Talking Points

Our facilitators take participants on a rhythmic adventure activity where everyone can tap into the fun using the percussive voice of the blues harmonica.

In the Harmonica Blues Jam every participate is gifted a harmonica to play and hold onto for a keepsake memory. Lead by the Bluetongue facilitators the new harmonica assembly is taken on a rhythmic adventure.

The blues musical train brings together the magical combination of harmonica, vocal harmonies and percussion. Under our facilitators direction participants break into groups to learn their new craft of either percussion, harmonica or vocal harmonies. We then combine in sections to produce a rhythmic chorus where participants discover the fabulous percussive ensemble, they have created together.

In the Blues Musical Train every participate is gifted a harmonica to play and hold onto for a keepsake memory.

Who is this for?

The possibilities are endless!

Whether you are holding a team building event, conference, product launch, staff development program, ice breaker, energiser, education or wellbeing program we have got you covered.

For that extra special touch, the option to have the Harmonica case personalised with your company logo is available.

The Benefits
Our experiences provide you with a rhythmic happiness activity, to help people tune in (focus), be present, collaborate and build positive connections. We provide a fresh & engaging approach to team building.

Playing the Harmonica is a wonderful way to improve your breathing and exercise your lungs. As we age, we lose our lung capacity. Medical experts say that people start losing their lung capacity by age 30 and may have only 50 percent of their previous capacity by age 50.

The Harmonica is being used around the world as therapy to improve lung capacity fitness. Unlike the familiar fitness regimes of yoga and exercise classes Harmonica Therapy offers the opportunity to do something that’s fun while also learning a few tunes.

Harmonica Therapy is an ideal activity as it works on breathing and focus together.

According to the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Foundation as well as the breathing benefits playing the harmonica assists with strengthening the abdominal muscles (for a more effective cough), & is an activity that helps with focus, relieves stress, and boosts self-confidence all of which helps to achieve a better quality of life.

This program is designed to focus on delivering the health benefits of the Harmonica to help participants achieve a better quality of life. Participants will learn breathing techniques, rhythms and a few songs all whilst having lots of fun along the way. The program can be delivered on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis and can be catered to the needs of your group.
Who knew that a crash-course in blues harmonica would be just the thing to inspire a virtually all-female group of young television execs. In just one hour, Doug managed to get the team playing together and having a blast in the process, without having to resort to any of the cheesy team-building stuff we've all seen before. I'd recommend Doug to anyone looking to give their people a fun, fresh and authentic experience they'll remember for years. Arena TV

50% of delegates have listed your session in the top 3 highlights from the whole of conference. This is a real testimonial to you as they had high profile guest entertainers, yet they took more away from your performance and the harmonica training you provided. The format of your session was so adaptable to our requirements which was fantastic. I speak for all the delegates when I say we would recommend you not only for team building sessions or conferences but also as guest entertainers. I don’t think anyone knew how truly entertaining a blues harmonica jam session could be.

We ran a recruitment dinner using the Harmonica Blues Jam. The night was well run and a great success. Thank you, Bluetongue!

JP Morgan

Our management team got a nice surprise to do something so different & we had lots of laughs during our session. It was great to see the budding musicians amongst us!

Zoos Victoria engaged ‘Blues Jam’ for our 2-day intensive leadership program to provide a quirky method of team engagement, some light relief and to uncover any hidden talent of our future leaders. We scored on all points. Bluetongue’s amazing program was one of the highlights of the leadership program, great fun, uncovered some musical talent, and all prized their take-home harmonicas.

Melbourne Zoo

Your ability to hold the attention of 200 salespeople for as long as you did was equally as impressive as your ability to teach them some of your craft. We have been inundated with calls this week from our guests thanking us for such a unique experience and complimenting the after-dinner Blues performance.

Hyundai Capital

The harmonica workshop was brilliant on many levels. As a team-building event, the workshop enabled everyone to get to know each other in a fun and energetic way. The workshop was a wonderful break and momentary diversion from the seriousness of an extended conference. The workshop was very inclusive as even those who had no musical talent were able to grasp the basics of playing the harmonica.
