Christi
Malthouse

Highly respected AFL reporter.

Profile

The Malthouse name is one of football’s most famous, and Christi is continuing the tradition as a highly respected reporter and boundary rider of Channel Ten's AFL coverage.

Christi is one of few females currently working on AFL television broadcasts and brings a vast amount of media experience to her role.

Christi Malthouse has quickly developed into an excellent media performer, splitting her time between boundary line work on Ten's AFL Coverage and as host of Beyond The Boundary, a behind the scenes look at the lives of AFL players.

Previous experience

Journalism: Christi began her career in journalism as a teenager in 1995, working for Perth’s Sunday Times covering local football and NBL basketball. During the same year, Christi began her Degree in Journalism (Bachelor of English) at Curtin University in Perth and successfully managed both her work and her studies.

Seven: In 1996 Christi joined Channel Seven Perth’s office in a part-time capacity, while continuing with her Degree. During her two years at Seven, Christi performed researching, producing and sports reporting duties.

Ten: Christi joined the Ten Network in August 1998 and worked out of the Perth office as a full-time sports reporter. During her first six months in the role, Christi covered the Sheffield Shield final out of Brisbane (1998/99 season), and has continued to cover cricket at every level each summer.

Radio: During 2000 Christi took on weekend work in addition to her journalism role with Ten Perth. She performed AFL boundary riding duties and reporting for Perth’s PMFM radio station.

Sports Reporter: In 2001 she took the plunge and moved to Melbourne to join the Ten Melbourne news team as a full time sports reporter.
