Christina Matthews was Chief Executive Officer of WA Cricket from 2012 to 2024 and a former Australian Test and One Day cricketer.
Christina is a well-respected voice within the Australian business community with strong leadership qualities and over 36 years’ experience in various management, coaching and development roles within cricket, hockey and Australian Rules Football.
She has proven herself to be an effective and courageous leader during her tenure at WA Cricket redefining the way WA Cricket approached its business, overseeing major projects such as the transition of major cricket to Optus Stadium and a $164m development of the WACA Ground
A significant contributor to the development of cricket, she has spent many years supporting community cricket associations and is a Life Member of the Sydney Cricket Association, Honorary Life Member of MCC (Lord’s), and the Melbourne Cricket Club and is former member of the Board of the Bradman Foundation. In 2024 Christina was elected to the Board of the Australian Cricketers Association and was subsequently appointed President, the first female to be appointed to the position of President.
Christina’s focus is not solely on cricket, also sitting on the boards of Tourism WA, Youth Focus, Leadership WA and is Chair of PEAK a trampoline, acrobatics and tumbling club for elite and recreational athletes. In addition to this Christina is also the WA Chapter Lead for the Minerva Network which is a pro bono mentoring organisation for elite female athletes.
During the summer months Christina acts as a cricket commentator for both Cricket Australia and ABC Radio.
In 2024 Christina won the Business category for Celebrate WA’s Western Australian of the Year Awards and was awarded an AM for services to cricket, and to women. In 2023 Christina was inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame and in 2022 she was named WA Sports Administrator of the Year.
