Jo Townsend is a highly experienced and award-winning program maker, television producer and scriptwriter, with a particular interest in long form journalism, true crime documentary making and current affairs.
With a passion and unparalleled knowledge for making crime documentaries, and a heaving contact book, Jo was most recently Executive Producer and Director of The Disappearance of Lyn Dawson; The mushroom Murders, Outback Murder Highway, Perfect Alibi, Granny Killer: Hidden Secrets, The Disappearance of William Tyrrell and Murder Down Under - all multi episode investigative true crime series that aired in Australia, the UK, USA and Europe. She also scripts and produces long form current affairs and World War Two documentaries.
In her 25 year television career, she’s held various senior television producing and directing positions at Nine, primarily on 60 Minutes, and is a former Commissioning Editor of The 7.30 Report.
Jo holds Journalism and Law degrees with first class honours, and a Masters in Public Policy & Politics.
