Profile

On the international stage, Kyah Simon made history when she became the first Indigenous Australian of any gender to score at a FIFA World Cup (2011), and again when she converted the winning penalty to claim Australia’s first ever piece of silverware at the 2010 Asian Cup. She has gone on to compete at the 2015 World Cup, the 2018 and 2022 Asian Cups, the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games in Rio and Tokyo and 2023 Home World Cup.

And in a decorated professional career spanning more than a decade, Kyah has represented teams across the world including the Boston Breakers and Houston Dash in the US, Central Coast Mariners, Sydney FC and Melbourne City in Australia, and PSV Eindhoven and Tottenham Hotspur in Europe before signing with English giants Tottenham.

Kyah has received individual and team accolades at domestic and international level and remains the only player in history to win all four prestigious awards in a Westfield W-League season (2011): Player of the Year (Julie Dolan Medal), Players’ Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Golden Boot Award.

Kyah has used her platform to push for social change, equality and to inspire the next generation of athletes. She serves on Football Australia’s National Indigenous Advisory Group as well as the Australian Olympic Indigenous Advisory Committee and created Kyah Simon Football Clinics to support and advance female footballers aged 8-to-18, teaching the importance of self-belief, hard work and chasing dreams.

Kyah has also established a successful media and keynote speaking career, appearing regularly on Fox Sports, SBS, Optus Sport and writing columns for CODE Sports and Athletes Voice in Australia, as well as speaking to corporates such as KPMG, Coca Cola and Populas to name a few. She featured heavily in the promotion for EA Sports’ popular FIFA16 game and represents global brands such as Nike as her main sponsor.

In the corporate sector, Kyah has used her Diploma in Business Management to work in football administration at Football Australia and as an Associate Paraplanner with BT Financial Group, all while fulfilling her football commitments. She remains a sought-after keynote and corporate speaker, and a great ambassador for the legacy of Women's Football.
