Rove McManus is one the most recognisable faces in Australian comedy.
Starting his career as a stand up, Rove went on to create one of the most successful talk shows in Australian TV history – Rove Live.
Launching at 11pm in 1999, the show went on to be a primetime hit, dominating the aughts with some of the biggest names on the planet making time to sit with Rove including Hugh Jackman, Angelina Jolie, Harrison Ford, Cameron Diaz, Matt Damon, Will Smith, Pink, Sir David Attenborough, U2 and Elmo. He went on to present two series of his own LA based series, Rove LA for platforms in the US, UK and Australia while he was also holding down his own segment on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno – Rove Across America.
Rove scored three Gold Logies and the show provided a launch pad for some of the biggest names in Australian comedy. It also made his company, Roving Enterprises one of the most prolific producers of television with the nightly news show, The Project, still produced by the company.
Rove is also a successful children’s author with three titles released through Scholastic.
Over this more than twenty-year story Rove has never stopped headlining at clubs and festivals, writing and performing stand-up comedy. It has been a constant through more than two decades of over-achieving. His upbeat, positive stand up is a reflection of his relentless invention and curiosity – a joy bomb that fill theatres and surprises audiences when Rove jumps up in any room with a mic and a half decent PA as he moves around the country.
There has never been a better time to catch up with Rove, whether it’s in two or three dimensions.
