Described by Time Out London as “an endlessly creative talent”, Sammy J’s career has encompassed stand-up, television, radio, musical theatre and viral political satire. He’s toured internationally, hosted ABC Radio Melbourne’s breakfast show, received multiple ARIA nominations for his comedy albums and created the hit satirical series Sammy J and Playground Politics.
He is one half of the award-winning comedy duo Sammy J & Randy, whose shows have taken them from the Sydney Opera House to London’s West End. Their sitcom Ricketts Lane aired on ABC and Netflix around the world. Sammy J’s award-winning live shows include Hero Complex, The Kangaroo Effect and Symphony in J Minor, recorded for a Paramount+ special.
Sammy's debut middle-grade novel, The Long Class Goodnight, was published by Hardie Grant and his musical Fiasco won the 2026 Green Room Award for Outstanding New Australian Music Theatre Writing.
Sammy J is an experienced MC, interviewer and educator, and a proud ambassador for Big Brothers Big Sisters and Oxfam.

Your keynote address was informative, inspirational and very entertaining. It was the perfect way for the students to start their day and throughout the workshop reflected on their time with you as being a highlight of the event. We were able to see the impact of your comments during the workshop sessions later in the day as students developed their own civics campaign. The insights, expertise and passion you brought to the event helped ignite the minds of our participants, inspiring them to consider the future of democracy and their role in shaping it.
We provided him a very specific brief to provide a humous yet thoughtful closing moment for our academic event. We were so pleased with the result! He had clearly prepared to align his content to the themes of the event, and obviously he was very funny!
His use of the keynote as an opportunity to craft a story of gratitude and valuing of the significant teachers in his life was nothing short of masterful. He really put his whole heart into putting it together and it showed. His performance not only communicated how much he values the work of teachers and the importance of creative arts education, but it demonstrated it.
Sammy read the room well and had the right amount of humour vs required content! He was professional, easily adaptable and likeable by the audience.
