International Day of Disability 2022

Emma Carson
04 Nov 2022

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is held on 3 December each year.

IDPwD is an annual event that raises public awareness, understanding, and acceptance of disabled individuals.

The theme this year is “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world.”

International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2022 will be centered around the overarching theme of innovation and transformative solutions for inclusive development, covering the following topics in three different interactive dialogues:

Disability-inclusive development of employment (SDG8): this dialogue examines the relationships between employment, knowledge, and skills to access employment in a rapidly evolving technological landscape and how assistive technologies can enhance employment accessibility and be mainstreamed in the workplace.

Innovation for disability-inclusive development in reducing inequality (SDG10): this dialogue will discuss innovations, practical tools, and effective practices to reduce inequalities in both public and private sectors, which are disability-inclusive and interested in promoting diversity in the workplace.

Innovation for disability-inclusive development: sport as an exemplar case: a sector where all these aspects coalesce; sport as a good practice example and a site of innovation, employment, and equity.
